What is pancreatic Tumor Symptom? |
Tumor is a class of diseases characterized by out of control cell growth, and pancreatic tumor occurs when this uncontrolled cell growth begins in the pancreas. The most common types of tumor of the pancreas are exocrine tumor. The symptom can be quite vague and they vary depending on where the tumor is in pancreas in the head, body or tail. There are several symptom of pancreatic tumor:
- Pain in the stomach area or back
Pain is more common in tumors of the body and tail of the pancreas. It can begin in the stomach area and spread around to the back. The pain is worse when lie down and is better if sit forward. This is often felt in the middle of the back and is persistent.
- Jaundice
Jaundice is yellowing of the skin and white of the eyes. The urine is darker than normal and bowel motions may be lighter in color. Other than that, jaundice is more common with tumor of the head of the pancreas because the tumor blocks the bile duct. This tube carries bile into the duodenum. If it is blocked the bile ends up in bloodstream instead. Bile contains a lot of yellow pigments so it turns the skin yellow.
- Weight Loss
Usually people with pancreatic tumor recently lost a lot of weight (at least 10 percent from the body weight) for no apparent reason.
- Diabetes
Some of the people diagnosed with tumor of the pancreas are found to be newly diabetic. The people who have diabetes are not producing enough insulin. There is too much sugar in the blood. The sugar is passed out of the body in the urine and takes a great deal of water with it. This causes thirst, passing a lot of urine, weakness and weight loss and hunger.
- Itching
The people have itching if have a bad jaundice. The bile salts in the bloodstream cause itching in the skin.
- Bowel Changes
If a pancreatic duct is blocked, it may develop a symptom called steatorrhoea. This means fatty stools (poo). It may pass frequent, large bowel motions that are pale colored and smelly and are difficult to flush away. This bowel disturbance can mean that the people are not absorbing the food properly. Other than that, it may be cause weight loss.
- Fever and shivering
The people with pancreatic tumor may have temperature from time to time because have jaundice or an inflamed pancreas. Then when the temperature is high people may feel cold and shivery.
- Indigestion
Indigestion causes heartburn, bloating and sickness. It is a common problem in the general population and for most people it is not a sign of tumor.
- Blood clots
Blood clot may form in the deep veins in the legs for example, or in smaller veins anywhere on the body. Common symptom of a blood clot include pain, redness and swelling around the area where the clot is and the area around the clot may feel warm to touch.
